Freedom Battalion

When the United States joined World War II, the Defenders of Justice split itself into a powered and a non-powered team. The super powered heroes remained the Defenders of Justice, the non-powered heroes became the Freedom Battalion. This was so the US could send a team of superheroes into Axis countries, which were protected by a power nullifier spell that would rob metahumans of their powers and consume them in a wasting sickness that would eventually lead to a coma or even death.

The Freedom Battalion runs mostly rescue, extraction, or guerrilla strike missions. They’re no substitute for the men in uniform, but they can make our boys’ lives a little easier.
